El francés Julian Alaphilippe (Soudal-QuickStep) consiguió su anhelada victoria en la Etapa 12 del Giro de Italia 2024 con final en Fano.
Tras hacer parte de una luchada y numerosa fuga, Julian Alaphilippe se fue en solitario junto a Mirco Maestri (Polti Kometa) a falta de 120 km, y juntos trabajaron para mantener el grupo de persecución alejado.
La dupla trabajo sin problemas para mantener la brecha controlada, hasta que el Alaphilippe decidió marcharse en solitario a falta de 11 km, momento que subían las empinadas rampas del Monte Giove.

Julian se le veía muy fuerte en este punto y pudo sostener una buena diferencia con sus perseguidores, consiguiendo cruzar la línea de meta en solitario con un tiempo de 4 horas, 7 minutos y 44 segundos.

En la segunda posición terminaba el ecuatoriano Jhonatan Narváez (Ineos Grenadiers) que también hizo parte de la fuga. Narváez mostraba buenas sensaciones, pero su grupo no pudo alcanzar la punta. Finalmente, Jhonatan Narváez terminaba en la segunda plaza, derrotando al sprint a su compañero de fuga Quinten Hermans (Alpecin Deceuninck).
Detrás, el grupo de favoritos no se hicieron daño y Tadej Pogacar (UAE Team Emirates) sigue comandando la lucha por la maglia rosa del Giro de Italia, seguido de Daniel Martínez y Geraint Thomas en la segunda y tercera casilla respectivamente.
