El australiano Richie Porte (Trek-Segafredo) consiguió una solida victoria en la tercera etapa del Tour Down Under 2020 con final en el duro ascenso a Paracombe.
Porte no se guardo nada y lanzo un contundente ataque en las primeras rampas del puerto final y consiguió abrir una brecha lo suficiente para conseguir la victoria de etapa en solitario.

El recorrido de 131 kilómetros fue completado por Richie Porte con un tiempo de 3 horas, 14 minutos y 9 segundos. La segunda posición en la etapa fue para el australiano Rob Power (Team Sunweb) a 5 segundos, mientras que el británico Simon Yates (Mitchelton-Scott) finalizo en la tercera colocación.
Además de la victoria de etapa, Richie Porte es el nuevo líder en la Clasificación General del Tour Down Under 2020.

La segunda plaza en la general es para el sudafricano Daryl Impey (Mitchelton-Scott) a 5 segundos, mientras que a 6 segundos se ubica Rob Power en la tercera colocación.
